Interactive Design is all about designing processes for users to follow through effectively. Instructional design interactives need to be designed in order for the user to follow through effectively to successfully reach a desired end result. For example In this making toast activity we will be looking at the overall process to make toast and designing an instructional website for users follow through in order to make toast. Now you are probably wondering what could be so hard about designing a website to instruct somebody to make toast and why do we need to design it. The reason is that even the most simple activities can have many alternative outcomes depending on the user and the situation.
Making Toast scenarios
There are many different scenarios and outcomes when making toast that need to be considered when designing an instructional website. One scenario is if the the user has any bread, or do they have toaster, do they have power in their home, is does the toast they have got mould on it? During the process of making toast there can be issues such as toast pieces getting stuck inside the toaster and jamming it which would require troubleshooting. Some scenarios can be simple and straight forward and others can be complicated. Some users may have the toaster already plugged in with the power on before starting the process and others may not. It is important to list all the different situations and develop a flow chart of the process first before designing the website.

Dave Smith Mood Board
The Dave smith Mood board is an example of a mood board to describe the user persona of a potential user of the Making toast project. It is important to understand the user before designing the project to ensure a successful interactive product.
